I always hate it when someone says to wear “business casual” because I feel like that doesn’t help me at all. Business casual is an incredibly ambiguous phrase. Darren helped us by clearing up by simply giving us a few guide lines to follow and then left the rest up to us. There are some rules to follow such as nice shoes, matching socks, collared shirts, black belt, ect, but it’s also important to tastefully express yourself. Business casual is mostly about looking professional, not dressing distractingly, and making yourself look as good as you possibly can. Darren spoke a lot about how to not make simple mistakes that really shoot your credibility (such as white sock with black shoes, peep toe heels, and ill fitting clothes.) In summary his talk was mainly about how our looks really are important, especially in a job interviews and presentations and it really is worth taking the time to look our best.
